Running Reviews

“Such a brilliant turn of phrase…”

Lauren Laverne, BBC 6 Music

I’ve never been one for running playlists. I’m an album kinda guy. I believe good albums take you on a journey and tell a story which you gradually figure out after repeated listens. When the lockdown started, I found it really difficult to stay motivated and positive during my daily run, so I thought I’d take my mind off things by listening to an album I’ve never heard before, and to see what kind of adventure/run the music delivered via my easily excited brain!

Rhodri then suggested that I filmed each run and spoke about the emotions and thoughts produced by the music.

I quickly discovered that doing this made me connect much better with music than I would if I were sat at home. I also noticed that my love of running and love of music were perfect for one another.

So, here’s what I do. I put a vote of 4 albums I’ve never heard to people on Twitter and Facebook, and the winning album becomes my running coach for the day.

Please, feast yourself on my running reviews, put the playlists down and let albums be your new motivator!
